Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity in today’s world means more than race and gender. Lotus understands the growing significance placed on creating environments, where a variety of different voices are encouraged, heard and understood. These voices may emerge from people who may or may not be of the same gender, race, or ethnicity. Diversity in the Lotus workplace includes race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, generation, disability, personality type and thinking style etc.

We believe that diversity encompasses a number of varied understandings, thought processes and cultures which results in an amalgamated and therefore unique set of processes, products and services. We tailor our initiatives to address not only specific industries but are consistently on the lookout to work on, our company’s areas of weakness, to be able to perpetually adopt global strategies.

At Lotus our Management and employees support diversity and inclusion by following these principles:

  • We Understand the universal goals of diversity and vision and its connection to the overall business objectives. We Commit to the process by understanding how diversity impacts our role, and how our role impacts the success of our diversity initiative.
  • We Participate in employee engagement surveys and respond as openly, with clarity and honesty as possible.
  • We actively engage in the diversity effort. We organize ‘Employee Resource Groups’, and volunteer to chair and serve on committees that organize diversity-related events and activities which enable valuable opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • We aim to become culturally competent by taking out the time to learn about different cultures, races, religions and backgrounds represented by our colleagues. We regularly ask our teams to share some of the customs and practices associated with their cultures to become familiar with diversity in its entirety.
  • We treat people in a way they wish to be treated and do not indulge in offensive jokes that may alienate those who are different from us. Most importantly, we attempt to be respectful always. Diversity, we believe should exist everywhere, not just in the office.
  • We consistently strive to drive positive change in the organization. We are always spokespersons for diversity issues that may not be necessarily our own.
  • We welcome ideas that are different from your own and support our employees. We believe that the creativity that comes with diversity can help in generating new ideas or improve a process already in place. This also make’s work more interesting, engaging, and fun.
  • We understand the diversity elements we personally bring to the organization. Diversity comes not only in the form of culture, race, and gender but also includes elements such as socio-economic background, education level, geographic location, sexual orientation, thought, and many others. Each of us brings to the table a lifetime of experiences and knowledge. Each of us is different and adds value to the organization because of these differences.
  • We commit to continuous improvement. Being willing to learn, accept feedback, and listen to the concerns of those around us, is the only way to grow.

At Lotus, our moto is to Communicate and educate. Diversity work is a journey, not a destination. It takes time, patience, and perseverance. We also believe that a willingness to educate and be educated goes a long way in building the bridge to diversity and inclusion.
